What's Special About SmartSentry?
Many video monitoring solutions focus on providing features such as ftp transfer capabilities or generation of email and SMS text alerts when motion is detected. In practice however, these features often don't provide any real advantage as most scenes being monitored contain movement at regular intervals which can results in information overload for the recipient. Additionally, if you really need these kind of capabilities, they can be added to any PC using standard Windows components or widely available low cost software.
SmartSentry is designed to maximize the information content stored in video files and reduce the system and network resources required to provide live monitoring by filtering out the 'Visually Silent' parts of the video stream. This means that images are only stored to file or transmitted over the network when there is a purpose in doing so.
Also, a number of other monitoring solutions were orginally designed to work solely with legacy multi-port analogue Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) capture cards with inherent hardware limitations and relatively low resolution when compared with modern USB web cameras.
By combining recent advances in USB PC camera technology with SmartSentry software, its possible to achieve results that exceed the quality and performance of CCTV devices and at a fraction of the price.
We continue to shape SmartSentry following feedback from our customers and we're determined to keep the cost for a permanent license for a Home User below 20 US Dollars. To do this we intend to use widely available tools and utilities from third parties to supplement the core functionality. This allows us to focus our skills upon the area of our expertise and avoids us attempting to re-invent inferior wheels.
